My father, Alan Whicher, was in the Secret Service office on the ninth floor of the building. He had just ended a phone call with my mom when the bomb went off.

Goal: $5,000

$3,400 raised so far,   $1,600 to go!

Anyone who has visited this memorial knows how special it is. For those of you who haven't, let me assure you that it is a place of peace and reflection. I feel closer to my dad here than I do anywhere else. Maintaining this sacred place is essential for the victims who were killed, the survivors who were changed forever, and their families so that we may show the world that even the worst of acts can bring people together so ardently that we can overcome anything. Which is why I have chosen for my donation money to be put toward keeping this memorial beautiful. It is a reminder that we as individuals and as a nation will prevail over senseless and ignorant violence against innocent people. Be a Survivor!!

In Murrah plaza behind where the building stood. All federal agencies are represented.

This pond was dedicated to my father from our neighbors in Olde Towne in Edmond, OK

The back of the shirts we had made to run the race. We're proud of who and what we run for!!!

A statue outside a church across the street from the bombing site. The statue survived the blast.

Post half marathon '09

These are my dad's grandchildren, who will know him only in pictures and the things we tell them. Left to Right; Emma, Ashley, Faith

This row represents the second floor of the building which held the daycare center. Notice some of the chairs are smaller, representing the children who were killed that day.

An empty chair to represent every person who was killed in the Murrah Building that day.

Dedication plaque at the pond

When they were building the museum, they asked each family to donate an item to represent their deceased family member. My mom gave them my dad's Ray Bans and any one who knew my Dad knows how appropriate that is.

I ran the half for my dad last year. This year I will have my sister, brother, husband, and brother-in-law running with me in the marathon relay. Go team Alan Whicher's Army!
