Running in the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon in 2007 changed my life forever. At the start, those 168 seconds of silence ignited a fire in my heart to do something extraordinary for those 168 lives. Instantly, 168 miles came to mind. To run 168 miles for those 168 lives. I needed to prepare myself better if I were to take on a run of that measure. As you can see I didn't do too well at my first Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.

Shortly after running the marathon, I deployed to Iraq for five months where I worked in the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Support Squadron. My job, simple, the preservation of life. It was there that not only did I realize how important the preservation of life was, but the preservation of memories as well.

After my return from Iraq, I knew I had to train hard to make this "run-for-a-reason" possible. With hard training and dedication, I set off on my goal, running from Altus AFB to Oklahoma City, 141.8 miles. 35 mph winds and rain would not stop me. I got to Oklahoma City with just 26.2 miles left in the journey. It was the day after where I joined thousands of runners for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. A little over four hours later, the journey was complete. 168 miles for 168 lives. There was no greater feeling in the world.

I knew I needed to do something again for the 168 lives again, ensuring that their memory lives on. It was then the number 168 jumped out at me again, this time, it was 24x7=168. Not a lot of people realize there are 168 hours in a week. Of course I would find that one out. My next "run-for-a-reason" would be the hardest run ever. 168 hours on a treadmill in honor of the 168 lives. Day after day, hour after hour, sock after sock, I kept pushing foward and set a new world record for most miles ran on a treadmill in a week, or 168 hours with 461.43 miles. As you can see I wore the treadmill down quite a bit.

And here I am again. The 10th annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. The number 10 strikes a bell with me. This April 17th-25th, I will make an attempt at 10 world records, to include the 168 hour run, for those 168 lives. I have made it now a lifelong dedication, to do everything in my power to ensure that those 168 lives are never forgotten. Take part in this run, it will change your life forever
