"We come here to remember those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever. May all who leave here know the impact of violence. May this Memorial offer comfort, strength, peace, hope and serenity."
Preamble to the Oklahoma City National Memorial Mission Statement
The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum

Hundreds of thousands of visitors come here each year from all 50 states and 94 foreign countries. They come here 24-hours a day, 365 days a year and experience this 3.3 acre historic site free of charge. They come because of what our community has created. They walk away with the challenge to do their part to make this world a kinder and more peaceful place.

Beautiful, Breathtaking, Awe-Inspiring, Tranquil, Phenomenal, Unforgettable, Remarkable. This is how visitors describe the Memorial. We wouldn't have it any other way.

The Outdoor Symbolic Memorial thrives as a beacon of hope with some of the most recognizable and profoundly meaningful elements of any memorial anywhere. From the leaves changing color on the trees in the Rescuer's Orchard to the pictures of rainbows and messages of love, hope and encouragement drawn in chalk by the innocent hands of our youngest visitors to the lights on the Field of Empty Chair that nightly glow in remembrance of the life they each represent, the Memorial is a living, breathing, ever-changing work of art. The Memorial Museum tells the story of not only the tragedy of the bombing, but the stories of resilience, heroes and healing in the days, months and years following.

Education is the key to raising a generation that believes in personal responsibility, cooperation, resilience and respect for others. Through educational materials, school and group tours, and a variety of programs, the Memorial strives to promote a positive, thought provoking and life changing experience for each visitor, young and old alike.

This is all accomplished through Museum admission fees, Museum store sales and donations - donations that come from caring individuals, businesses, groups and foundations. No tax dollars - not Federal, not State, not local - are used to fund the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum.

Your contributions truly make a difference and help create a more peaceful world for this and future generations.
